Leominster Town 2 Malvern Town Res 4
LEOMINSTER Town, lying in 11th place were never able to get in front in this West Midlands League South encounter with Malvern Town Reserves who are immediately below them in the table.
The Worcestershire club dominated the midfield, but it was Leominster who made the first strikes on goal with Ben Price and Bobby Aldrich both going close. In the 15th minute, however, Leominster pushed too many players upfield and in a quick counter-attack Barry Hughes side-footed Joe Leighton's low cross into the net to put Malvern in front.
Only a fine save by Peter Nightingale denied Dan Rocke an equaliser before on the brink of half-time Hughes volleyed in his second goal.
Soon after the resumption Leominster were back in the game as Aldrich worked himself into a good position and fired a shot into the roof of the net. Unfortunately, for the home team a few minutes later Leominster's Nigel Bennett, trying to head clear, deflected the ball over keeper Craig Brimmell into his own net.
Malvern went three-goals up when Rob Perrins took advantage of indecisiveness in the home defence to touch the ball in from a narrow angle. In the closing minutes Malvern returned the compliment by also conceding an own goal.
