Hereford face an anxious wait to discover whether they face relegation from the Gerrard West of England and South Wales League North Division 1 after winding up their competitive season with a 2-1 defeat at Newent.
Hereford have 21 points from their 18 games and currently lie in 8th place in the table four points ahead of Bath Buccs B, but the Avon side still have three games to play.
Hereford made a nervous start on Saturday but overcame their early jitters to defend well in the first half to keep the scoresheet blank at the interval.
Newent took advantage of a controversial decision to award a foul against Hereford early in the second period to open the scoring and, with confidence boosted, quickly added a second.
Hereford skipper Colin Amos pulled a goal back but Newent's goalkeeper made a number of fine saves in the closing stages to ensure that the Gloucestershire side held on for a win which edged them above Hereford in the table.
There was a much happier afternoon for Leominster whose 3-1 win over West Wilts keeps them in fourth place in North Division 2.
Leominster made a dream start when they broke away from the push-back and a fine passing move ended with Ian Johnson firing against an upright with Josh Watkins on hand to put away the rebound.
Johnson then made West Wilts pay for a defensive mix-up by adding a second and before the break the home side were three goals to the good when a period of strong pressure allowed Watkins to net his second.
West Wilts had created few chances from open play but did pull a goal back in the second period after a defensive error by Leominster.
