PARISH PLAN - More than 50 Villagers came to hear a presentation of the results of the Household Survey for the Weobley Parish Plan on Tuesday, March 2, at the Hopelands Village Hall. The survey, which was undertaken last October, produced an 80% response rate from local residents aged 16 and over. Key findings included: One third of residents value people as Weobleys' main attraction, whilst a quarter value the facilities and the place itself. Almost three quarters of residents have problems parking in the centre of the village, with 50% wanting to see improvement in traffic flow. Only 16.5% of residents believe there should be more housing, although over 40% recognise the need for housing for local people, and the young. The primary school and high school are recognised by over 70% of all villagers as integral to community life.Key areas of concern were recorded as the lack of police coverage, inconsiderate parking, litter and dog mess. Following the presentation, refreshments were served whilst attendees took the opportunity to discuss progress with working groups and observe work from the Childrens' Workshop held in October. The working groups are due to present draft recommendations to be put before the Steering Committee at Easter.
