PUPPET SHOW - Lempen Puppet Company presents Puppets in the Wild in Almeley Village Hall on Saturday, March 20, and starts at 3.30pm. The show combines puppetry, acting, music and humour to transport children and their families into the unchartered territory of wild puppets.
CRAFT CLUB - A craft and coffee morning is being held on Saturday at 10am to 12noon in Almeley Village Hall. Admission is free. For further information call Vanessa Woodcock on 01544 327835.
Parish Plan - The results of the survey of the parish conducted in December will be presented to a public meeting in the Village Hall at 7.30pm on Friday, March 19. It will be an informal occasion with the opportunity to converse with member of the working party over a glass of wine.
CRAFT CLUB - A Craft Club has been established in Almeley and to date has around 20 members. Meetings are held on alternate Mondays and Tuesday evenings in the Almeley Village Hall. AIR Ambulance - Three consecutive whist drives, organised by the Almeley Whist Club, have raised £312 for the Air Ambulance. At the last of these events, organisers Sandra and Allan Payne presented the £25 prize for the highest cumulative score. Mrs Turner also won the first ladies prize for the evening. Other prize winners were Mrs M Fenton, Mrs M Drew, Mrs M Price, Mrs S Payne, Mrs M Price Mr M Hughes and Mrs B Lane. The MC Mr R Harris, thanked players for their support and announced that a similar series of whist drives, this time in aid of the Herefordshire Heart Fund and Stroke Association will take place on Tuesdays, April 13 and 27, and May 4. The next whist drive will be next Tuesday at 7.45pm.
VILLAGE HALL - Almeley Village Hall was full to capacity when Flicks in the Sticks presented Calendar Girls on Thursday, February 26. Their next presentation will be on Thursday, April 1, at 7.30pm, when the annual meeting of the village took place, the outgoing chairman, Mr Rupert Button, thanked the committee for their support over the past year. This committee stood down and new officers were elected. They were chairman Mrs J Parrott, vice chairman Mrs R Pressnell, treasurer Mrs M Abley, committee secretary Mrs S Harris. Mr P Weeks and Mr A Tucker joined the committee as co-opted members. Representatives of village organisations who will serve on the committee are for the parish council, Mrs C Price, parochial church council, Mrs D Brain, Women's Institute, Mrs S Smart, cricket club, Mr K Hockenhull, Royal British Legion, M D Terry, Neighbourhood Watch, Mrs R Presnell, Young Farmers, Ms M Evans.
