NOTHING is quite what it seems in The Little Shop of Horrors... Business is flagging on downtown Skid Row, where people are spending money on little - least of all flowers.
Accident-prone shop assistant Seymour Krelborn thinks he's hit gold with the discovery a strange and intoxicating plant, which he calls Audrey II - after his fellow shop assistant and love of his life.
Business picks up, and the future looks rosy, until Seymour realises just what plant food Audrey is after...
Aylestone School is set to stage the popular musical - which found notoriety in the hit film starring Steve Martin - over four nights from March 17.
The show has been in production for six months and includes a cast and crew of 70 pupils, including the school's own harmony group, chorus and band.
Producer Bruce Freeman, who has been involved with productions at the school over the past 20 years, is delighted with the commitment he has received from the pupils and staff.
"The plants and props are professional, so there's lots of gasp factor
"It does promise to be very funny - I think people will be impressed."
Mr Freeman, the assistant head teacher and Year 10 head, has produced the school's two previous large-scale musical productions, Bugsy and Grease, which have earned Aylestone a reputation for first-rate, hugely enjoyable productions.
Tickets are available from the school office on 01432 357371.
