London Civil Service Veterans 10pts Ledbury 41
LEDBURY came away with a capital victory despite fielding three rookies - Clive Chapman, Andrew Beeching and Jack Wilesmith.
And the margin of victory was one of the biggest since the fixture began.
The centre pairing of Williams and Butler proved impregnable.
Ledbury's tries came from Ally Smith, Barnett (2), Rollings, Butler (2) and Pugh.
Peter Elkington added six points with his boot.
The first quarter of the match was very even, with neither side giving away much, although the home team seemed to have the edge in the scrummages, where the visiting front row having a torrid time.
Despite this, Ledbury began to build some very good attacks with the pack smashing into the home side at the rucks and maul.
Ledbury realised that the home team's lineout was poor and Allen Dixon and John Wilesmith were able to win virtually everything.
With this hard-won domination, the game slowly turned Ledbury's way.
'Fez' usually come back well in the third quarter but on this occasion, Ledbury pinned them in their own half without the obvious option of kicking for touch.
Against the run of play in the second half, the home side managed to move the ball out wide and put some points on the board.
However, Ledbury soon regained their stranglehold on the game.
