UPTON Adventure confirmed her liking for the Garnons track when she recorded another victory at Sunday's Ross Harriers fixture at the course in the capable hands of Emma James.
Owned by Peter Corbett and trained by Nicky Sheppard, Upton Adventure has become a standing dish at the Garnons track recording seven of her previous 14 career victories and she was duly sent off a 4/6 favourite in the 12-runner field.
James was content to allow rivals Owl Vulgan and Octagonal to cut out some of the early running but always had them covered before allowing her mount to go the front on the final circuit and comfortably hold the persistent challenge of runner Pride of Khasmir by two lengths.
Winning rider Emma James commented: "She was back on form today, she was off colour after she last ran so has had five weeks off and is back on song today. She may go to Brecon next week before returning here," she added.
The Penny Grainger Bold Tactics was sent off a warm 1/2 favourite to take the Intermediate race for novice riders in the hands of Tim Weston but favourite backers were made to sweat in the home straight.
The favourite was headed three fences from home by the Peter Mason ridden Love at Dawn and it was only on the run-in under a polished performance from Weston that the favourite asserted to win by an official distance of a neck.
The Men's Open race fell to the out-and-out stayer Parahandy who, once the leader Warner For Players had faded, kept on the stronger to score by a length from another ex-chaser The Campdonian by a length.
Leading jockey Julian Pritchard is having to sit out race-riding at his Ledbury base at present with a broken shoulder but is hopeful of being back in the saddle for next Sunday's rearranged North Hereford Hunt fixture.
