SPORTS pitches, informal recreation spaces and a wildlife area are some of the plans for Hereford's newest park that will come under the spotlight next Monday.
Residents are being invited to St Barnabas Church Hall from 7.30pm to hear presentations on the city's latest green space from Herefordshire Council and Aylestone Park Assoc-iation chairman, David Penny.
Committee members also hope to restore an adjoining stretch of canal that runs near the park, situated on Aylestone Hill.
Mr Penny said: "The funding was made available because the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Canal Trust is able to offer match-funding in the form of labour.
"Through the Trust's efforts we will not only clean out and restore the canal basin and tow path but also we will be able to provide the footpath network and new fencing envisaged for the park."
The Association secured the grant of £100,000 from Living Spaces, a fund administered by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
The grant will allow the development process to begin this year.
