Colwall church was packed on Sunday for a service to commemorate the life of Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout movement.
The date was appropriate because it was the birthday both of Baden-Powell and his wife Olave, said Colwall rector Carl Attwood.
"The service was to celebrate the work of the Baden-Powells and of uniformed groups such as the scouts. We had a couple of hundred people in the church," said Mr Attwood. "It's quite a coincidence because I visited the Baden-Powells' grave when I was in Kenya in January."
One of the attractions at the service was the presence of Roly the Clown, ordained Church of England vicar Roly Bain, who is also a fully-qualified clown.
He entertained the congregation with his antics, at the same time bringing home the Christian message.
It was delightful, a very lovely occasion," said Rev Attwood.
