THE family of a 96-year-old woman moved into Leadon Bank three weeks ago say they are shocked at plans to demolish it.
Linda Broom, of Progress Close, said they had no real information about plans to demolish the home before they moved her mother, Violet Broom, in.
The running of the home is being switched from Hereford-shire Council to Shaw Homes, which plans to replace it with residential flats and new respite unit for short stay pensioners.
She said: "It's really disturbing. We knew there were things in the wind, but we thought that Leadon Bank would be left relatively untouched."
She said she was concerned about the prospect of her mother living on a building site.
"We would never have moved a 96-year-old into that home, if we had known about this," she said.
Mrs Broom moved from Harling Court on February 3, as she needed extra care.
Shaw's spokesman Stephen Crisp said it was still the responsibility of Herefordshire Council to inform residents and their families of the planned changes.
But he said Shaw had made a request to the council to keep residents and relatives better informed. The council last week said people were being informed "every step of the way".
A newsletter is now being prepared and more talks are planned for next month.
