NINE-year-old Cub Scout Luke Gower kept a cool head when faced with an emergency.
His great grandmother Joyce Preece collapsed unconscious after an asthma attack at their home in Hereford Road, Leominster.
Luke, who attends Ivington Primary School, called 999 and told the emergency service what had happened, giving vital details.
Luke's brother Liam, 11, contacted their aunt Beryl Bayliss, a care assistant, who went straight to the house.
Joyce Preece, 69, was taken by ambulance to hospital in Hereford. She recovered and came home two and a half days later.
Joyce told the Hereford Times things might not have turned out so well but for Luke: "I suffered a terrific asthma attack and blacked out completely. Luke was very brave - he coped very well."
Sue Morgan, headteacher of Ivington School, said: "The school is very proud of Luke and his action will be highlighted at Friday assembly."
