BOOK borrowers and staff at Leominster Library were evacuated in a fire scare on Tuesday after a workman using soldering equipment in another part of the Buttercross building triggered an alarm.
Staff and customers at Barclays Bank, part of the same complex, were also evacuated. Leominster fire fighters checked the building and gave the all clear.
A library spokeswoman said one person in a wheelchair had just left when the alarm went off shortly before noon. About 20 members of the public were asked to leave the library.
"We followed our fire drill and everything went smoothly," she added.
