Hereford'S Darren 'Dazzo' Williams will not be lacking in home-town support when he steps into the ring to defend his British featherweight title in Bridgend on Saturday night.
"There are around 150 people, including two bus-loads, travelling down from Hereford to support me," said Williams. "There will be another 60 or so from Wales where I train, as well as some coming down from London."
Williams, who will defend the title he won from Coventry's Roy Rutherford in Belfast back in November against Liver-pool's Jamie McKeever, has been in training since early January for the bout.
"The training has been going well for the last five weeks and I've been cutting down on the food to keep an eye on my weight," said Williams. "Now I'm looking forward to the weigh-in on Friday.
"I'm confident and I've trained hard but I know that it will be a tough fight."
His 24-year-old challenger, rated 107 in the world, lost the title to Rutherford on his last appearance in the ring in Liverpool last May. He has won 15 of his 20 fights, losing four and drawing one.
Williams, who is 29, is managed by Dai Gardiner and Tommy Gilmour and trained by former world champion Steve Robinson. He gained another high-profile supporter last week when he met former world light-heavyweight champion John Conteh who wished the Hereford star every success at Hereford United's sporting dinner at the Three Counties Hotel.
The fight card, which also includes the IBO world lightweight championship bout between holder Jason Cook and Kevin Bennett, will be televised live on Sky Sports.
