PRAYER - this year the Women's World Way of Prayer Movement will hold its annual Day of Prayer on Friday, March 5, at 10.30am, at the Almeley Friends Meeting House.
WHIST CLUB - The third and final whist drive in aid of the Air Ambulance, will take place in Almeley Village Hall on Tuesday, March 2, at 7.45pm. The prize for the highest cumulative score is £25. The normal fortnightly whist Drives will continue on Tuesdays, March 16 and 30. At the whist drive on Tuesday, February 17, MC Rick Harris presented prizes to Mrs A Allen, Mr M Price, Mr R Harris, Mrs J Cadman, Mrs M Thomas, Mrs M Price, Mrs S Turner and Mr E Dyke.
SCHOOL - Almeley School held its first fun run on Sunday. All 33 runners and walkers completed the three and a half-mile course. It was a wonderful day with bright sunshine breaking through just as the race started. Hot school dinners have returned to Almeley. Jarvis enterprises are providing hot lunches to over 40 pupils. The school was recently runner-up in a national competition run by Norwich Union winning £1,000. This has been used to purchase gymnastics equipment, which will be used in lessons and after school. The children did a collage showing how they could improve the health and fitness of people in their community.
