The first meeting of 2004 commenced with a visit from Gwenda of Welsh Council for the Blind Cardiff representing The Royal National Institute of the Blind. She spoke of numerous grants to help with loft insulation and a cassette tape called Vision. Two new members were welcomed, Mrs Mary Parry Breacon and Mrs Nancy Shepard Brilley.
On January 22, club members welcomed back chairwoman 'Chilly' who thanked everyone for gifts, cards and messages of get-well as she had been out of action since before Christmas. A generous donation has been given to the Talking Books Association. A very enjoyable afternoon was spent when Carol Armstrong and Gill Spurr shared stories of their holiday in India. Two new members were welcomed namely Gwen and Peter Barber from Talgarth. Chilly welcomed Tony Blythe and his wife, Lyn, who recently joined with their dog, Ben, and travel from Credenhill each week.
A questionnaire was filled in by Aileen for the New Welsh Disabled Sports Council. Contributions to the Guide Dog box amounted to £16. A most informative afternoon took place when optician Jo Penning, who has a shop in Brecon, spoke to members about eye care.
On February 5, a relaxing afternoon was enjoyed when Val Whistance and Janet Playford entertained with flute, saxophone, violin and piano.
