Ludlow Town 0 Westfields 0
WESTFIELDS' impressive run of six straight Midland Alliance wins came to an end but their unbeaten run goes on after sharing the points with their South Shropshire neighbours in a very entertaining local derby.
The visitors just had the better of a very competitive first period with Paul Burton making several useful runs as he tried to unlock a well-organised home defence.
Teenager Matt Aubrey broke through but blasted a fierce drive wide of the upright as home goalkeeper Martin Poole came out to narrow the angle, and the only other chances fell to Burton who saw a shot well saved by Poole and a header flash inches wide.
Scott Jackson and Alec Winstone were solid in the middle of the Westfields defence and, when the home attack broke through, goalkeeper Jon Pugh made a series of excellent saves from Tim Jackson, Chris Busby and Danny Adams.
Ludlow had a chance to open the scoring after the break when a crisp move created space for striker Shaun Humphries but his fierce drive was magnificently saved by Pugh.
In an action-packed final quarter Burton had a snap shot well saved by Poole and Darryl Smith blasting a late chance high over the bar.
