TWO religious sisters are in Weobley, offering their services to residents.

The nuns, from an Anglican convent called The Order of the Holy Paraclete, have been invited by the vicar, the Rev Bob King.

The nuns wear traditional grey habits with black and white wimples and a large crucifix around their necks and are based at a convent in Yorkshire.

"They will be fairly obvious in Weobley as nuns are not a common sight round here," said Mr King.

Sisters

"I hope folk will feel free to talk to them, as I keep telling people nuns don't bite!"

The event, called Sisters in Residence, follows up a similar successful week of guided prayer held in the North Herefordshire village two years ago.

"The visit of the nuns offers a unique experience to the people of the Weobley and Staunton group of parishes," said Mr King, vicar of the group of seven churches.

"They are available for private discussion and will be seen at services during their week with us. They are non-judgemental and used to working with people from all walks of life."

Local people are being encouraged to make appointments to meet the sisters on a one-to-one basis and transport and baby-sitting is being offered if needed.

They are available morning, afternoon and evening. There is no cost to individuals but the church is hoping that donations will cover all their costs.

The sisters are staying until Sunday.
