The former Total petrol station, off the Gloucester Road, in Newent has been sold.

The sale was confirmed this week by property agents, Lambert Smith Hampton, but the agents declined to identify the buyer at this stage.

However, Stephen Morgan, of the Newtown Cross petrol station, a businessman who had shown interest in the site, confirmed that he was not the new owner.

A banners saying "Opening Soon" is currently on display at the Gloucester Road garage. The former Total garage has not been open for business since late summer.
