Legging narrow boats through canal tunnels in Birmingham and the Black Country could become an annual exertion for members of the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal Trust.
Group spokesman Brian Fox explained that members had recently enjoyed a day out on the urban canals, including propelling boats through tunnels by legwork on the tunnel sides.
He added: "We were asked if anyone wanted to try a bit of legging, and three of us volunteered, no doubt practising for the day when our tunnel at Oxenhall is opened.
"It was a very enjoyable day, which could well become an annual event."
