Presteigne 4 UWA 0
PRESTEIGNE produced a dazzling performance to keep the pressure on the top two sides in the Spar Mid Wales League and Chris Jones capped a fine individual game with a couple of goals.
Presteigne were on top from the start with Dave Watkins forcing the students' keeper into an early save.
They were not to be denied and Tony Richards netted from the rebound after the keeper had blocked a Jones shot.
They doubled the tally in similar fashion, Jones slamming in the rebound this time, after Neil Lewis had a shot blocked.
Jones, who struck the post just before the break, netted his second, and his side's third, after the interval with a long-range shot.
The woodwork came to the rescue of the visitors twice, firstly as Dave Beaumont met a Robbie Gore corner with his head, and then from Richards.
But they were not to be denied, Tom Ammonds slipping the ball across the goal for Anthony Robbins to slot home.
The result sends Presteigne into their quarter-final tie in the Welsh Trophy in good heart. They visit Wrexham League outfit Penycae on Saturday.
