Kington Town 0 Lye Town 3
KINGTON'S West Midlands League Premier Division title aspirations were dented when they gave a disappointing display and slipped to a rare home defeat against a Lye side who took the few chances that came their way.
Early home pressure failed to create any clear chances and, in almost their first sortie into the Kington half, Lye took the lead when a midfielder met a weak clearance to fire a superb volley into the top corner.
Kington continued to dominate but could not find the telling final ball against a gritty Lye defence backed up by sound goalkeeping.
It was much the same after the break with Kington doing all the pressing but they fell further behind when they conceded an own goal.
Lye broke quickly down the left and whipped over a cross. Steve Radziejowski, chasing back to help out, could only deflect the fierce cross, which looped high over a stranded Rory Hollingshead to find the net.
Sustained attacking by Kington could not break down a solid visiting defence and Lye punished Kington with a third goal when a striker raced on to a long clearance to drive past Hollingshead.
