A SMALL Herefordshire village church proved the idyllic setting for a St Valentine's Day 'Royal Wedding'.
Born-and-bred Herefordian Hywel Breeze married the maternal granddaughter of the last King of Sialagan, Henrik, who ruled a small kingdom in North Sumatra before the Indonesian government took responsibility for the area in the 1950s.
They tied the knot in the idyllic surrounds of Tyberton Church last Saturday and Rev Tim Jones needed a special Archbishop's License to perform the ceremony.
Hywel, a former pupil at Bishop's School, met Reny Erika Adelina Silalahi in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he has been working for the past 18 months.
The day was also poignant for Hywel because his grandmother, Edith Grinnell, who lived with husband Norman in the village, is buried in the churchyard at Tyberton. She died on Hywel's birthday in October 2001.
His great-grandparents, Jack and Edith Ashton, are also buried at Tyberton.
Hywel's mother, Rosemarie Ann Ashton-Breeze, who was raised in Tyberton and Madley, said: "The wedding was wonderful, it was everything that we had hoped for. The church was packed and everyone enjoyed the sounds of the harp and the church bells."
