A poll on reading habits, in the style of the Big Read television programme, was recently carried out among pupils and staff at Newent Community School. Fantasy novels are clearly flying off the shelves, with The Lord of the Rings topping the poll, followed by Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials and then J K Rowling's Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
