A 70th birthday party for Whitbourne Women's Institute was held on Tuesday evening and attended by members past and present.
Around 45 ladies gathered in the village hall for the celebration. They enjoyed a cake of the WI's banner, which shows a lychgate, oak tree, cherry tree and bridge - all things relating to the village.
Ann Taylor, who has been a member for eight years, said a lot of old members had returned for the occasion.
"It was just a very good evening," she said.
Members could see a scrapbook showing the history of the village, which was entered in a competition run by the Herefordshire Federation of Women's Institutes in 1936.
Although it did not win, it is still in existence and is used as a way to record special events and occasions the Institute is involved in.
The first of the four books contains beautiful lettering created by a young women from Knightwick, just out of teacher training college, who became Mrs Olive Foot.
Marion Oliver is the longest serving member of Whitbourne WI. She has been attending meetings for more than 60 years, although she was not able to attend the party.
