THE top of Division One of the Soccer Site Malvern League remains the same following victories for the top two, Oak Allstars and Bishops Frome.

It was a case of top verses bottom at Ross Road, Ledbury when Oak Allstars entertained Fromes Hill and, despite the result of 8-1 to the Oak Allstars, Fromes Hill can take heart from a spirited performance, which deserved more than their solitary goal from James Howard.

Bishops Frome were made to work hard by visitors Talbot Head before securing a 2-0 victory. Talbot defended well from the kick off in a game which was marred by strong winds. The only goal of the first half came in the 20th minute when a James Bagley free kick was met by Jason Westmacott's header.

Despite having the bulk of the play Bishops Frome found Talbot Head to be stubborn opponents and they only made the game safe in the 75th minute when, following another James Bagley free kick, Sean Davies controlled the ball well on his chest and slotted home.

The other game in this division saw Club AC 30 go down 0-3 to visitors Kempsey United A. Kempsey's goals came from Stephen Edwards, Chris Freeman and Leigh Allen.

Kempsey go up to third but it appears the title race is between Oak Allstars and Bishops Frome, who meet this weekend at Ross Road. Victory for Oak would put them four points clear whilst a win for the visitors would put them two points up, with Bishops Frome having a game in hand.

In Division Two, leaders Bell Inn 98 were given a fright by young visitors, Perowne Park Rangers.

With only one player in the starting line up who played in the leadership clash with Madresfield the previous week, the home side seemed confident of victory over much lower placed opponents.

With a strong wind at their backs, the visitors took a deserved lead in the 15th minute when Sebi Kothasewsla beat the offside trap.

Debutant Steve Field missed some golden opportunities to equalise before Brocks doubled the Perowne lead in the 30th minute.

The home team came out for the second half in determined mood. A combination of the wind in their favour and the introduction of substitute Chris Grubb saw them pull one back through Dave Beech.

When Nicky Welch also came on as a substitute, it was soon level thanks to a Shaun Price goal. With Tony Evans also coming on for the Bell, they began to look much more like title contenders and in the 80th minute, man of the match Chris Grubb grabbed the winner.

Madresfield missed an opportunity to keep up their challenge when they drew with visitors Cavalry Arms 3-3, having been 1-3 down. Madresfield's goals came from Stephen Brookes, Chris O'Neil and a Gordon Mansell penalty. Cavalry's goals came from Anthony Holden Jones and Rob Jones (two).
