The family of a teenage girl who died in a road accident near Parkway are devastated that a shrine to her memory has been tampered with.
Two wooden crosses have gone missing, together with flowers, soft toys and cards on at least two separate occasions.
Checks with the highways authority, police and parish council has revealed that no official body was responsible and now the family is keen to solve the mystery that has caused them so much distress.
Emma Hole, aged 17, died on the A417 on December 6, after her Citroen Saxo was involved in a collision with a Renault Clio.
Since then her grieving parents, John and Elaine Hole, her older brother Gary and other relatives and friends have placed flowers, cards and a cross at the scene, to help them come to terms with their loss.
Gary, 39, of Cheltenham, said: "Why are they being removed? They were not hurting anyone in the middle of nowhere. All I found this week was a little cuddly lion that had been trodden into the mud. This is almost like defiling a grave.
"How would the person responsible feel if they had lost their daughter or sister?"
The family is particularly upset that cards from friends and family have been taken from the spot.
The teenager's father, John, of Hartpury, said: "The cross, all flowers old and new, together with cards and sympathy notes and small teddy bears have gone. There's not a petal left. What sick person would do such an act?"
