Lye Town 1 Wellington 3
WELLINGTON extended their run of recent good form in the competitive West Midlands League Premier Division with what team manager Wyn Owen described as 'our best away performance of the season to date'.
Club skipper Mark Fish marked his return to action by conceding a 14th-minute penalty when he tangled with the home striker after a corner, the hosts converting the resultant spot kick.
The visitors hit back to level when striker Robbie Parsons got free on the left and crossed for his fellow striker Peter Wallace to head home a picture goal.
With time running out in a bright first half Wallace returned the compliment to set up Parsons who hit the target with a sweetly struck drive.
Still buzzing from their goal just before the break, Wellington went two goals clear in the first minute after the restart when Parsons, a continual threat to the home defence, again broke through to round the goalkeeper who clipped him down.
Midfielder Matt Williams made no mistake with a well-placed penalty kick, and Wellington kept possession well to play out time and leapfrog their hosts into fifth place.
