HINTON and Ewyas Harold have moved into the semi-finals of the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Strongbow Senior Cup after wins over Lads Club and Sutton respectively.
Ewyas Harold were held goalless until the second period by a battling, but below-strength, Sutton side before finally emerging with a comfortable 3-0 success.
The home side's strong pressure at the start of the second half was eventually rewarded when Steve Lamb and Matt Ingram set up the opening for Simon Macklin to fire past Scott Garrett.
Mark Holder and Rob Chandler then set up Ingram to double the lead shortly afterwards and Harold sealed the win when a Sutton defender deflected a Holder cross into his own net.
Hinton progressed smoothly to the next stage after a convincing 4-1 success against city rivals Lads Club.
Ben Chambers provided the cross for Weston Holder to open the scoring on the half-hour and Matt Ferriday then converted a penalty to extend the advantage after a foul on Ben Porter.
Chambers hammered in a cross from Ian Morris early in the second period before James Buchanan reduced arrears for the home side. Chambers was then the victim of a foul which brought a second penalty. James Anderson netted after Darren Ball had saved Holder's first attempt.
Fownhope increased their lead at the top of the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division when Steve Winmill's injury-time winner sealed a 2-1 success at Woofferton.
Woofferton piled on the pressure in the first half but the Fownhope defence, in which 17-year-old debutant Dean Jones excelled, held firm. Goalkeeper Stuart Jennings was constantly in the action, too, fielding a succession of crosses and corners but had no chance after 30 minutes when his own centre-back Dave Taylor netted with a header into his own net.
Fownhope levelled when Winmill netted direct from a corner and grabbed the winner when Winmill volleyed in a Nobby Griffiths cross two minutes into stoppage time.
