A NUMBER of Herefordshire schools look like being over-subscribed in September.
However, it is hoped a new selection process for parents, whereby they nominate their three favourite choices, should help each student find a place at their preferred school.
Although St Mary's, Fairfield, Weobley, Wigmore and Bishops all received more first choice applications than they have available places, school services manager Mark Chamberlain, says the new admission scheme should solve old problems.
"We are now asking parents to nominate three ranked preferences, so that we can hopefully try and accommodate everyone," he said.
"Obviously we are expecting a few appeals, but I believe this is a better and fairer system with more choices for parents."
The success of the new scheme will only be apparent on March 1 when the county's pupils will be told which secondary school they will be attending in September.
