RICH GIFTS - The Assembly Rooms entertainment by Tableau on January 31 has raised £511 to date, in aid of the Frances House project in Galgau, Romania.

EARLY WARNING - Presteigne WI's meetings: Wednesday, February 25, in the Green Room at the Assembly Rooms, when Lesley Wootton will be talking about the Presteigne and Norton Community and Support Group; St David's Day concert with the Madog Male Voice Choir, in the Memorial Hall on Sunday, February 29; Sacconi String Quartet in the Assembly Rooms on Saturday, February 28; Cynthia Hughes will be producing a show, Rhymes and Their Reasons, in the Memorial Hall on Wednesday, March 3, in aid of funds for the Youth Project and the Support group; Black Knight Astronomy at Rose and Ivy Cottage, Lingen, will be hosting An Evening under the Stars on Saturday, February 28, from 7pm until late.

MAYOR'S CHARITY DINNER - Mayor Peggy Fraser-Scott is holding her Charity Dinner and Dance in the Memorial Hall on Friday, February 20, from 7pm until 11.45pm. There will be dancing to the tunes of The Celtic Link and Eddie DJ with food by the Country Kitchen and drinks by the Dukes. There will be a Grand Raffle with proceeds going to local charities in the town.

ASSEMBLY ROOMS - Mid Border Arts is presenting a concert in the Assembly Rooms on Sunday afternoon, February 15, at 3.30pm, when The Arden Duo, Gareth and Lynden Rees-Roberts, are giving a recital of Italian music and songs. The recital is in conjunction with a photographic exhibition on Venice at St Valentine's, at the Hat Shop, in the High Street, throughout February. Italian-style refreshments will be served in the interval, and the Hat Shop will be open after the recital for viewing the exhibition.

PRESTEIGNE WI - President, Jill Cornish welcomed members to their first meeting in 2004. Details of the forthcoming County Show were distributed and a planning meeting arranged. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, February 25, at 2.30pm when Lesley Wootton from Presteigne and Norton Community Support, will be going along to talk about this new and worthwhile venture. Anyone interested in finding out more about Community Support can join the meeting in the Green Room at the Assembly Rooms, Presteigne.

PRESTEIGNE GARDENING CLUB - The club will be holding its next meeting on Monday at 7.30 pm in the Memorial Hall when Mr John Fannin will be helping the club to prepare for Summer Days.
