PUBLIC MEETING - Peace campaigner Bruce Kent spoke of his feelings both of despondency and optimism in the face of the current international situation at a recent public meeting in Knighton Community centre. A member of the audience said that a small number of local people maintained an anti-war vigil at Peace Square in Knighton on Monday evenings from 6.30pm to 7pm. The dissenting view was expressed by pro Iraq War campaigner Martin Skinner who came to the meeting with a placard round his neck. The meeting was organised by Knighton Action for Peace and Justice and was chaired by Mary Compton. Ms Compton thanked Mike Conway for setting up the sound system at the Community Centre and ensuring that members of the audience who wished to ask questions were heard.
