AT the February meeting of the Whitecross Townswomen's Guild, Mary Collins, acting as returning officer from Tupsley Guild, spoke at length on how the committee and officers together form the success of a guild. For this year's charity the treasurer announced she had paid £100 each to Dial-a-Ride and Hereford District Nurses Support Association. Arts and Crafts were to meet at the home of June Timson next Tuesday. June also had news of a Federation Lunch at the Mount Pleasant Hotel, Malvern, on May 17, where a number of places were allocated for those Guild members wishing to attend. Margaret Sommerfield for Social Studies had arranged an afternoon of whist at her home next Wednesday at 2pm, and Mary Halls offered to have the monthly coffee morning at her home on Tuesday, February 24. Joan Edwards outlined a five-day holiday to Southport on September 27, for members' consideration, and Joan Hughes thanked those members who had knitted Teddies for Charities. The raffle was won by Rene Johnson. Mr Christopher Kingsley had come at short notice to talk about the impact of the European Union on the British way of life. Mavis Matthews thanked Mr Kingsley. The annual meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 3, at The Holy Trinity Institute, Whitecross Road, at 7pm.
