Hereford'S music lovers can call their own tune by adopting a pipe belonging to the cathedral's great Willis organ.
People can support Hereford Cathedral by making a donation towards the restoration of the 4,000-pipe instrument.
Anyone who donates a minimum of £100 before May 16 will be recognised as the Founding Patrons of the scheme.
A donation can be made towards a specific pipe in memory of a loved one, as an unusual gift, to mark a special occasion or for themselves.
The scheme will help to ensure that future generations can enjoy and appreciate the unique sound of the instrument.
"Pipes can be sponsored for as little as £10," said Glyn Morgan, Hereford Cathedral organ committee secretary. "We hope people will give as much as they feel able to, remembering that the restoration is costing the cathedral over £85 per pipe. As the Willis organ has over 4,000 pipes, it is a very expensive project."
All donators to the sponsor-a-pipe scheme will receive a certificate that will have been specially designed.
Once the restoration has finished, it is hoped a series of special recitals will be organised, some of which will be for people who have contributed towards the scheme.
