THE FRONT page (February 5)should give Hereford councillors and planners food for thought.
You have a graphic picture of elderly residents of a care home at Bullingham being evacuated through flood waters, fortunately no loss of life but much disruption. Then on the same page you describe plans for residential development at Bullinghope and other areas south of the river.
A lot of extra traffic would obviously be generated and those working or shopping in Hereford would have to go via Belmont roundabout just where the flooding occurs and then over Greyfriars Bridge. It is here the busy A49 and A465 meet.
The much publicised Rotherwas Road would be of limited advantage since it would merely divert traffic from Holme Lacy on to the A49 and thence to the congested Belmont roundabout and Greyfriars Bridge.
Has thought been given to schools and medical needs? Are there facilities at Hereford Hospital for extra demand?
