CASH-strapped Hereford United are still wrangling over FA Cup money with debt-ridden Swindon Town.

The Wiltshire club has paid over £18,000 but the Edgar Street club is disputing the gate receipts.

"I understand that Hereford have received most of the money, and we are now dealing with a few queries," said FA competitions officer Steve Clark.

"As far as I am aware £18,000 has been paid, although there has been a query from Hereford about some of the payments which is quite normal."

Hereford asked the FA to intervene after Swindon failed to make the initial payment - which United estimated to be about £20,000 - within 14 days of the match.

Swindon claimed that a cheque was posted to Edgar Street in December - and was later cancelled when it failed to arrive. Nationwide Second Division Swindon are struggling with debts of £10m.

Former Bulls favourite Gareth Davies has retired from professional football with a knee injury.

The 28-year-old joined Hereford on a YTS scheme at 15 and made 95 league appearances for United in the bottom section of the football league.

In June 1995 he joined Crystal Palace for £120,000 and later moved to Reading before joining Swindon Town in March 1999 where he underwent three operations and made 23 starts. Davies admitted he would love to make a final appearance at Edgar Street.

"I support Hereford United and my time with them was priceless," he said. "It would be a dream come true if I were to play at Edgar Street again."

Scott Voice saw a specialist on Thursday about his troublesome groin injury which has restricted his appearances this season.

He has made just two substitute appearances in the last 10 matches and also most a further run of nine games near the start of the Conference campaign. Voice has scored just two goals.
