Hereford United player/coach Phil Robinson admits his young goalkeeper Matt Baker was shaken after Hampton and Richmond Borough's Darren Deegan broke his leg during their FA Umbro Trophy clash.
The Bulls' 4-1 victory on Tuesday night was marred by the sight of Deegan being stret-chered off after a collision with Baker in the 13th minute.
But Robinson absolved Baker of any blame and said it was just part and parcel of the game.
"We were all a bit shaken by it including Matt himself but it was an accidental collision, with no blame attached and indeed no free kick was given," he said.
"We all feel for the player and Matt is a bit down about it but it is an occupational hazard of the game."
Baker is nursing a groin strain but both he and Paul Parry (calf) are expected to train over the weekend before Hereford's Nationwide Conference clash at Boston United's York Street ground on Monday which is being televised live on SKY.
New signings Roy Jordan and Roy Hill, who signed on a non-contract basis from Kington Town were both on the bench for the Hampton cup tie.
Ahead of the Boston clash Robinson was pleased to have four different players on the scoresheet in the victory against Hampton with defenders Matt Clarke, Tony James and Ian Wright adding to a Gavin Williams strike. "I think everybody in the team has now scored apart from Matt Baker and it is good to share the goals around," he said.
"It was another good home performance against Hampton it is just unfortunate we had a hiccup in the Leigh RMI match."
Off the pitch Hereford's fund-raising FA Cup dinner raised more than £6,000 including about £2,700 from the post meal auction.
The proceeds took the total raised by the board of directors to more than £30,000 in just over 13 months.
