NO pain, no gain will be the motto for Hereford United ahead of their trip to Doncaster Rovers tomorrow (3pm).

The Edgar Street club has been dragged into a relegation battle and player-coach Phil Robinson expects several key personnel to play through the pain barrier in a bid to win three valuable points.

Robinson (groin) plus inspirational skipper Ian Wright (calf), Ian Rodgerson (hamstring), Scott Goodwin (stomach) and Matt Clarke are among those with niggling injuries but who will be expected to soldier on.

On-loan defender Dean Barrick is expected to face his old club for the first time since signing for Hereford.

"We are carrying a lot of injuries and hoping they settle down after two difficult matches at the weekend but the situation at the moment is that we have got to get out there and play through the pain barrier," said Robinson.

"It's very tight at the bottom and a good result against Doncaster, who are one of the form teams, will certainly help our cause."

The Yorkshire club are riding high in third place but Hereford, with just two

two wins in their last eight league matches, are now only four points above third from bottom Stalybridge Celtic.

Robinson has not set any points target for the Bulls and believes there are plenty more twists and turns at the lower end of the Nationwide Conference.

"It's changing all the time and with the bottom clubs continuing to win we have to keep going until we are mathematically safe," he said.

"What has not helped us is that all the teams below us have picked up their results to close the gap and a number of teams, including us, have dragged down into trouble."

Robinson admits the crucial factor for his team is to get points on the board.

"It is a case of getting results - that is the most important thing, whether it is by playing good football or just grinding out results it doesn't matter - whatever it takes," he said.

Formcast: Bulls to earn a point with a 1-1 draw.
