INJURIES and illness are threatening to leave Hereford United decimated for tomorrow's FA Umbro Trophy third round tie at Billericay Town (3.00).
Director of Football Graham Turner fears he could be down to 11 fit professionals and may have to shore up his squad with YTS players.
Defenders Tony James (ankle) and Paul Sturgess (knee), winger Paul Parry (groin) and striker Paul Fewings (knee) are the quartet causing most concern.
Turner said: "Earlier this week I thought Sturgess would have the least chance -- right at this moment he has the most chance.
"Tony James has done some training but is feeling it, Paul Parry doesn't look too clever and Paul Fewings has just tweaked a knee, although he might be OK."
In addition James Wall, Craig Hanson and YTS goalkeeper Lee Rudall are all down with 'flu although wide man Gavin Williams has shaken off a similar bug.
Goalkeeper Andy Quy and striker Steve Piearce remain long-term absentees.
Turner added: "It certainly isn't ideal preparation but we know it is a big game and at least the majority of the key players will be fit."
Their Essex hosts are currently ninth in the Ryman League Premier Division and Turner does not underestimate the difficulty of the fixture at the New Lodge, as they bid to stay on track for a more realistic route to Wembley.
He added: "It will be like a cup final for them and on their pitch, it will be a very tough game.
"But we realise that, and we have to go there with some confidence."
Hereford (from): Jones, Lane, Sturgess, Snape, Wright, Clarke, Rodgerson, Taylor, May, Elmes, Williams, Fewings, Parry, James, Shirley, Beale, Pitt, Pendrey.
If a replay is required, it will be at Edgar Street on Tuesday (7.45).
