Newent Community School pupils put in a fine performance in the Mock Bar Trial Competition at Queen Elizabeth's Law Courts, Birmingham.
Taking part in mock trials, and in competition with schools all across the region, the Newent team won one case, lost one and was awarded a "bye" in another, because a rival team dropped out.
Teacher Di Harrill said: "We did not make the final two, but this was a case of the actual results being almost irrelevant.
"We all look forward to entering the competition again and, now we know what to expect, we are confident that we will provide formidable opposition."
