The Friends of Newent Community School are launching a £16,000 fund-raising drive for a new school mini-bus
Fundraising ideas are being sought but the group hopes to be able to find the money within two years.
Spokesman John Primett said: "Historically, the Friends have raised significant funds for a number of projects, such as girls' football kit and many other items.
"Our current plans are to establish the key resources required by the school following consultation with both teachers and students.
"In particular, one major project we are looking to commence is fundraising for the purchase of a replacement school mini-bus. Our aim is to raise £16,000 over a two year period.
"Any ideas for related events or sponsorship are most welcome, along with any people kind enough to volunteer some of their valuable time."
