Ledbury entertained Painswick on Sunday, another slick Gloucester outfit, and in a three section, 15 minutes each way match, ran out with an even result.
LEDBURY U12S V PAINSWICK U12S
The homesters were totally dominant in the first section, chasing down their own kick from the start, and, keen to get to the ball first, Dan Allam cleaned out good ball from the ensuing ruck to feed Arron Almond for an early opener.
After a five minute stalemate in midfield, it was Ledbury again who took the game to their visitors, a clever exchange to Tom West from his scrum half gained precious yards for a slip pass to Ollie Skittery, who ran the angles well to let Ledbury in for their second and a 12-0 lead.
From the restart, Ledbury again pressured the Painswick line and took advantage of slack defence to sneak another before the turnaround, to win the opener 19-0.
After several substitutions from both sides, it was Painswick however who dominated. Regaining possession from their own restart, they rolled and mauled all the way to the Ledbury line for their opening touchdown.
Another followed shortly after, and Ledbury now knew what it was like to be under pressure. In spite of cajoling by the partisan crowd, the visitors sneaked in another before the final turnaround.
More changes, and a reinvigorated home side, saw a deep restart by Tom Pinnell, some great poaching by Dom Matthews, and rugged determination by Charlie Smith, Tom Coleman and George Seed. The score came from a cross directional reverse by Ollie Skittery, only to be equalled by a rapid response from Painswick.
Next week, Hereford at home, meet 10.30am.
