THE date for nominations for a new Bromyard town councillor has been extended.
Nominations were meant to close on January 30 but town clerk Mike Cresswell said an extension was needed because no nominations had been received, although an election had been formally requested by ten voters.
He added it was likely the Electoral Commission would continue to grant extensions until a candidate was found.
If more than one candidate is nominated a date for an election will be set but if only one name is put forward they will automatically become a councillor.
When a new councillor is found they will replace Coun John Bernard Haycock, who resigned on health grounds last year.
