PLEASE CAN I thank Sheila Milne for her letter (January 15), and yourselves for printing it. It highlights the fluoridation of our drinking water.

Fluoride is a very reactive substance and can lead to teeth losing all their enamel if taken in too large quantity.

I do not want it put in our drinking water and will write to Welsh Water, but one letter is not enough. It is obvious the general public does not trust our drinking water and what will this do? If so many are buying bottled water and having filters fitted in kettles and on taps it means something is wrong.

The water companies need to find out what the public do not like about their water although they may not mind that the bottled water companies can get all this extra money out of us!

And can I ask your readers if it is normal to have brown algae coating the inside of the lavatory cistern? We had to change the valve this weekend, last done five years ago, and everything had a slimy brown layer over it, which, I must admit came off easily with a firm wipe.

B MARK,

The Willows, Leominster.
