HEREFORDSHIRE and North Midlands hooker George Thomas has been selected for the England Schools RFU 16-Group 74-strong squad from which the national teams will eventually be selected.
Leominster boy Thomas, a pupil at Hereford Cathedral School, is one of 14 Midlands players in the squad who will attend a development camp at Whittington Barracks, near Lichfield, and Castlecroft from February 12 to 17.
The 74 were chosen after a Divisional Festival in Wolverhampton and Thomas' Cathedral School team-mate, scrum-half Robert Lewis, has not been included.
The training camp includes a game against Worcester Under-17, plus a match between two sides selected from the training camp. Both fixtures will be played at Castlecroft on February 17.
The training camp forms the next stage in the selection process for this season's England Schools 16-Group senior and A teams.
