Southall Town 3
Pegasus Juniors 1
TITLE-chasing Southall took their few goalscoring chances to overcome a battling Pegasus side in wet and blustery conditions in this Cherry Red Records Hellenic League Premier Division encounter.
The home side made an ideal start when Ashley Keene weaved his way past three Pegasus defenders before lashing the ball into the back of the net with just three minutes played.
Pegasus, however, showed their renewed confidence to battle back to level terms midway through the half.
Matt Gray won possession out on the left, feeding Neal Hotchkiss who slipped a perfectly-timed pass through for Darren Jones to fire past Ben Miles in the home goal.
Pegasus then had the better of play for a while but things changed just before half-time when Laurence Helme required hospital treatment after sustaining a broken nose in an accidental clash of heads with former Pegasus player Rory Smith.
Helme had only just reached the changing rooms when Southall scrambled in their second goal through Lee Gardner.
Jones and Gardner fired shots over the crossbar as both sides carved out openings in the second period but Southall clinched the points late on when substitute Wesley Green nodded down a free-kick for Dale Godfrey to prod home.
