Fownhope became the fourth different leaders of the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division in four weeks after coming from behind to beat Sutton 3-1 on Saturday.

Visiting Sutton had the benefit of the wind behind them in the first period but, with Dave Taylor and Gary Orman holding firm at the heart of the Fownhope defence, were able to make little headway.

The home side fell behind, however, with just three minutes of the second period played when Sutton's leading scorer Stuart New let fly from 25 yards.

Although Stuart Jennings in the Fownhope goal got his hand to the ball he could not keep it out.

Finally, however, with around 20 minutes to play, Fownhope began to get a grip on proceedings and Matt Goodall chased a long ball down the middle, rounded goalkeeper Scott Garrett and fired home.

Five minutes later, Goodall doubled his tally in virtually identical fashion and shortly afterwards an attack down the left resulted in Richie Roberts firing home the third. Fownhope's win takes their run of consecutive successes in January to five .

The villagers take over at the top of the table from Westfields, whose game against Ewyas Harold at allpay.park was abandoned after 43 minutes with the home side leading 1-0.

Referee Phil Smith called a halt after Harold defender Rob Cooper-Tomkins sustained a nasty cut to his elbow on a piece of pottery which had worked its way to the surface of the wet and muddy ground.

Westfields had carved out the first opportunity but goalkeeper Stuart Turpin produced a fine save from Mark Hibbard's header.

Defences were then on top for a period until a handball decision against Anthony Robbins resulted in a penalty for Westfields. Turpin saved brilliantly from Mark Mortlock's spot-kick only for the referee to order the kick to be re-taken and this time Mortlock found the net.
