A PROSPECTIVE Parliamentary candidate for Leominster, Caroline Williams, is the latest political contender to enter the row over traffic lights at Newtown Cross.
After attending a demonstration at the controversial junction on the main Hereford to Worcester road, the Liberal Democrat has written to Herefordshire Council to express her disapproval at the way she believes safety proposals for the crossroads are being considered.
"There is a feeling by local residents that the decision to impose traffic lights at this junction has already been made against the wishes of the local community," she said.
"There is a clear indication that the residents of the area do not wish traffic lights to be imposed on them against their will.
"If consultation means anything to this Conservative-led council, they will take note of their local constituents and not ignore them, but I fear in this council, consultation means imposition and diktat."
