WITH six players missing due to injury and unavailability, Leominster turned in a brave performance against Gerrard West of England and South Wales League North Division 2 title challengers Bridgend before going down 4-0 away.
With Yon Saunders in the centre of defence and James Summers at right-back outstanding for Leominster, Bridgend found it hard to make much headway in the first period when they were able to score only once, from a short corner. Leominster carved out a number of chances but were unable to press forward in sufficient numbers to take advantage.
In the second half, however, Leominster began to tire and, with defensive mistakes creeping in, the home side scored three further goals, two from open play and one from a short corner.
Despite having a player sent off, Leominster 2nd continued their climb up the North-East West District 1 table with a 2-1 success over West Glos 3rd.
In an entertaining game, Andy Connop gave Leominster the lead with a penalty flick in the first period with Simon Maxwell adding a second 10 minutes after the break.
West Glos, who had been above Leominster in the table, pulled a goal back with 15 minutes to play after which Leominster had to defend desperately to hold on.
Ross-on-Wye suffered a 3-1 home defeat against Bristol 4th in North-East West District 3.
l All games involving Here-ford were postponed as a mark of respect to the city club's player Craig Stocker who died in a car accident on January 26.
