Kington continue to lead the way in the Mid Wales league after a crushing 14-1 win over Builth/Llandrindod.

Player-of-the-match Sherrie Gore cracked in a treble in the first period and there were also three goals from Alex Watson and one from Helen Yeomans as Kington took a commanding lead.

Llandrindod rallied briefly and pulled a goal back from a short corner at the start of the second period but Gore (2), Bev Hyde (2), Sam Hackley, Catherine Jones and Jenny Layton hammered in further goals for Kington.

Leominster have moved up to second place in the West Clubs' Women's League Severn Division 1 after winning 4-2 at Cheltenham Civil Service.

They took an early lead when skipper Caroline Hughes and Karen Hackley combined well for Hughes to open the scoring.

Although Service levelled from a short corner, Hughes restored the visitors' lead shortly before the break but the Gloucestershire side equalised again from another short corner before Hackley was rewarded for some good play with the two goals which clinched the win.

Hereford seem to have lost their way since the holiday break and suffered their third successive defeat when going down 3-1 at home to leaders Cheltenham 2nd.

The city side were unlucky not to score in the first period but Cheltenham found a way through to lead at the interval and, despite the best efforts of Hereford goalkeeper Sam Jones, doubled their lead early in the second period.

Cheltenham did not have things all their own way, however, and Hereford's pressure was rewarded with a goal from Kate Powis before the leaders, who boast a 100 per cent record after 13 games, sealed victory with a third goal.

Ross-on-Wye were punished for some slack defending as they slipped to a disappointing 3-2 defeat at lowly Gloucester 3rd.

Gloucester took the lead in the early stages after a pass down the right split the visitors' defence but Kate Cameron levelled in the second period when she was on hand to fire home after a Pauline Hemmingway shot had rebounded from the goalkeeper.

Gloucester quickly restored their lead but Cameron again levelled with a fine individual goal before the home side clinched the points 10 minutes from the end.

Hereford 2nd, who lead the way in Severn Division 2, were unable to overcome the handicap of being without four regular players and slumped to a 5-1 defeat at mid-table Chelten-ham 3rd.

The home side went in front with just two minutes played but Ceinwen Pepperell levelled after receiving a pass from Sarah Gummery.

Some good tackling by Hereford's Claire Annett kept Cheltenham at bay until just before the interval when they grabbed their second. Two goals in quick succession early in the second period took the game away from Hereford and Chelten-ham emphasised their superiority on the day following a late penalty corner.

Colwall strengthened their challenge to Hereford with a convincing 7-0 win over struggling Blockley.

Coral Handley fired in a hat-trick in the first half and further goals from Sam Shail and Lucy Halligan gave Colwall a commanding advantage at the break.

Handley and Halligan added further goals to make it a fine farewell for Steph Fitzgibbon, who is returning to New Zealand after two years with the club.

Tenbury made a strong start to the second half of their Worcester League Division 1 programme with a 4-0 win over Kings Heath.

Ollie Linton fired Tenbury ahead after just two minutes after a fine attacking run by Rachel Croxton and Abi Thomas extended the lead following a cleverly-worked short corner.

Emma Hillhouse put Tenbury further in front from a Thomas pass early in the second half and Nikki Edwards rounded off the scoring with the last hit of the match after a superb cross-field pass from player-of-the-match Croxton.
