CHURCHES TOGETHER - In Ross-on-Wye and District, which is made up of representatives of nearly all the churches in the town and district, held their annual meeting on Friday, January 30, at St Frances of Rome Catholic Church. Mrs Val Allen reported on a successful year during which there had been a considerable increase in activity, £3,700 had been donated to the Send a Cow Project, a Faith & Work conference had been held, a stand had been taken at the Herefordshire Business and Technology Show and Christmas cards had been delivered to every house in the town give Christmas greetings and details of church activities. Elected to office were: chair, Tony Archer; vice chair and publicity, Philip Dazeley; secretary, Margaret Helps; treasurer, Norman Ridge and auditor Roy Wallace. A number of events are already planned for this year including Lent Study Groups in members' homes on the subjects of Faith and Work and other issues. There will be a walk of witness on Good Friday morning to mark not only the death of Jesus Christ but also point to His resurrection on Easter Sunday. Other events in the pipeline include another musical by Andy Newton entitled The Victory of the Cross which it is hoped to stage during the Ross Festival.
